Top Hammer Drill Rod

The Top hammer drill rod serves as the intermediate transmission component for the entire rock drilling operation, connecting the output end of the rock drill machine with the drill bit, and stably transmitting the impact load and rotational torque to the bottom of the hole. Unlike ordinary drill rods, the drill rod manufactured by YS STEEL focuses on optimizing the impact resistance of the joint area, adapting to the harsh working conditions of high-frequency reciprocating impact, and reducing abnormal wear in complex geological conditions underground and in open-pit mines.

The Top hammer drill rod produced by YS STEEL is made from special alloy steel billets selected for mining applications. The raw materials are screened and selected at the factory level from the beginning, avoiding any inherent defects in the steel.

Product Process

1. Grade screening and directional forging

The raw material bars are pre-inspected for defects such as inclusions and gas pores; directional forging optimizes the metal flow lines, forming along the force direction, enhancing the impact resistance of the drill rod and reducing the risk of fracture.

2. Zone-specific differential heat treatment

The body and the threaded joint are treated separately for heat treatment, with the body maintaining high toughness to resist bending and the threaded part being locally strengthened to resist tooth breakage and impact, balancing the overall toughness and the wear resistance of the joint.

3. Multi-process thread tolerance control

The threads undergo multiple processes such as rough machining, fine machining, and fine finishing, with strict control of dimensions and surface roughness to reduce assembly wear and slippage faults, and lower the failure rate of slip locking.

4. Segmented non-destructive flaw detection

Two independent magnetic particle flaw detection tests are conducted after heat treatment and before the finished product is shipped out, separately checking the forging area and the stressed parts of the threads, detecting micro-cracks, and reducing the probability of missed detections.

5. Condition-based surface protection

According to actual working conditions such as dampness underground and high dust in quarry sites, matching anti-rust and wear-resistant surface treatments are provided. Customized protection plans can be customized for non-standard projects.

FAQ

Q1: Under what circumstances should the Top hammer drill rod be immediately stopped from use?

A1: If there are thread collision damages, deformation of the rod body, or visible cracks on the surface, the operation must be stopped and the equipment should be used anyway to avoid safety accidents caused by interruption of the operation.

Q2: Can you only provide samples and not make large-scale purchases?

A2: Yes, standard specifications can be tested in small batches. For non-standard products, after the measurement and mapping are completed, prototypes can also be made. After confirming the compatibility of the working conditions, mass production can be arranged.

Q3: Are you a trading middleman or a self-owned processing factory?

A3: Integrated industry and trade, with a complete processing and testing workshop for drilling tools on our own. All core processes are independently completed, and video factory inspection is supported.

Q4: Can different series of threaded drill pipes be temporarily mixed and used for emergencies?

A4: Mixing is strictly prohibited. Incompatible thread specifications can cause overload damage to the joint and even breakage of the drill pipe. It is essential to use specifications that match the drilling rig and drill bit.

Q5: How long is the delivery cycle for non-standard customized drill pipes?

A5: Production scheduling is based on the complexity of the process. After technical confirmation, a clear delivery date will be provided. We will not make arbitrary commitments regarding the delivery time.

Q6: Does the product warranty cover wear and tear caused by on-site geological conditions?

A6: The warranty only covers raw materials and manufacturing defects; wear and tear of rock layers, overload impacts, and improper operation-induced damages are not within the scope of the warranty.

Q7: Can we cooperate with a third-party institution for incoming inspection?

A7: Supported. It can accommodate third parties to visit the factory, conduct size, mechanical, and non-destructive testing, and simultaneously issue corresponding certification documents.
